Sam wakes up with a sore throat. He drinks tea, eats honey, refuses to admit defeat, and goes to school. By the second period, he has a strong opinion about the value of staying home. By the fourth period, his classmates have made it clear that they share his opinion. Strongly.

- I am cold (= temperature) vs. I have a cold (= illness).
- My head hurts me → ✗ / My head hurts OR I have a headache → ✓.
- L1 trap: German Ich habe Halsschmerzen → English I have a sore throat (singular).
