Frida the fox sits on Mia’s bed. “Am I a pet?” she asks. Mia thinks. Pepper the cat opens one eye. “Definitely not,” Pepper says. “Pets are quiet, kind, and full of fur.” Frida is quiet, kind, and full of fur. Mia smiles. “Pet enough for me.”

Animal sounds. The teacher makes an animal sound; the class shouts the English word. Cat, dog, cow, horse, sheep, duck, pig, owl.

American English prefers have / has alone.

- I am have got → ✗ / I have got → ✓.
- Has she got (no extra do).
- L1 trap: German Ich habe einen Hund maps to I have (got) a dog — not I am having a dog.
